Fall Decor Candle Decorating

Candle Decorating is a  great way to give some lift to your fall décor. It’s like a step towards all out craziness of Christmas. I like to decorate for different occasions. Fall décor is one of the easiest.

I looked at my entrance and decided that my candlesticks could use a little glam.  My process is easy for fall candle decorating and relatively inexpensive considering the store-bought options.  You can follow the same steps for Christmas, which I will, by changing the ribbon and floral picks.

Here are the materials needed:

In the fall, I begin looking for the ribbon to come out at Costco.  It’s one of the most cost-effective purchases I make all year.  I use it for gifts, flowers, arrangements, wreaths, etc. These ribbons all have a wire edge, which make the best bows.  There is 50 yards of ribbon on each roll for $6.99.  I have never used one full roll for the holidays except when I helped to decorate for our church. You can purchase gift wrap on -line at Costco but not ribbon.

A word of warning, people do not really appreciate gift bows made with ribbon covered in glitter.  The whole house ends up covered in glitter, that even the best vacuum can’t pick up.  One year I wrapped all my son’s family presents in beautiful gold ribbon.  They were magnificent.  By the time we were done opening gifts, his whole house, along with my beautiful grandson, were covered in sparkle. So I reserve that ribbon for decor that is out of reach of little fingers.

I get the floral picks for the fall and Christmas, in July.  Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joann’s, and sometimes Walmart carry floral items early . You can also find them on-line at Factory Direct Crafts and Amazon . But I’ve never purchased any unless they are at least 50% discounted. By October, there will be very few available for fall decor. When you wait you usually pay a premium price.

Start by making your bow.  I use a 6 loop bow. I then top it with a simple figure eight loop. Use your floral wire to complete the bow and leave enough length to wrap it securely around your candlestick.

I added a link to a video with how to make bows.

Make a ring out of the beaded garland.  Mine was a tangled mess. This helps to give the candle a finished look from both sides.

Remove the labels from your flowers (Why must there be so many?). Use your trusty glue gun and glue one pick into the center of the bow.  Add the figure eight bow using the wire and glue gun. Then add the final flower pick.
